Porto Santo Stefano. Coming from Orbetello and then from the Argentario shore which overlooks the lagoon, to continue towards the ‘mainland’ in a northerly direction you need to go around its western basin.
It’s therefore necessary to travel along the Tombolo della Giannella, the strip of land covered with lush Mediterranean scrub and sandy beach that surrounds the lagoon to the north-west and divides it from the sea.
This is the 2nd stay of a walking – journey – project to discover the Mediterranean coast along the itinerary of the Strada Statale 1 Via Aurelia which goes up the Italian peninsula to reach its French destination in Arles.
Walking for a long time is the primordial journey of the human being who seeks. We pause or continue by adapting to the needs or opportunities of the moment along a path that will always return something new.
